Who we are

Bowie Ball is a glam and drag dance party founded in Chicago, Illinois, by DJ Heaven Malone. This policy covers bowieball.com. Questions? Email contact@bowieball.com.

What we collect

  • Ticket alerts: your email address.
  • Contact form: your name, email, topic and message.
  • Analytics: basic visit data, only if you accept analytics cookies (see below).
  • Server logs: like nearly every website, our web host automatically records technical details such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.

Form messages are emailed directly to our team from bowieball.com; no outside form service is involved. To block spam, the site briefly keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to limit how many messages can be sent in a few minutes. We don’t sell, rent or share your personal information for advertising.

How we use it

To send Bowie Ball news, lineup announcements and ticket alerts; to reply to your messages; to keep the site secure; and to understand what’s working on the site.

Emails

We only email you about Bowie Ball if you’ve asked us to. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask to be removed at any time by emailing us.

Tickets and third-party services

Tickets are sold by our ticketing and venue partners (such as Etix), under their own terms and privacy policies. We don’t receive your payment details. Embedded SoundCloud players, Instagram posts and YouTube videos may set their own cookies when you play or view them.

Analytics and cookies

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: pages viewed, how visitors found us, device and browser type, and approximate location (city or region). Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga) to do this. We don’t use analytics for advertising, and we don’t load Google Analytics or set these cookies unless you click “Accept” in the cookie banner.

You can change your choice anytime with the Cookie settings link. Google’s use of this data is described in Google’s Privacy Policy, and you can also opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

The site also remembers your cookie choice on your device, and embedded players like SoundCloud may set their own cookies when you use them.

Photos and video at our events

Bowie Ball parties are photographed and filmed, and those photos may appear on this site and our social channels. We don’t use facial recognition or collect biometric information, such as face scans, from photos or guests. See our Photo & Video Policy to request that a photo of you be removed.

How long we keep it

We keep ticket alert sign-ups until you unsubscribe, and contact messages for as long as we need them to help you. Google Analytics data is deleted after no more than 14 months.

Keeping it safe

The site uses HTTPS encryption, and we limit who on our team can see your information. No website is perfectly secure, but if a security breach ever affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as required by Illinois law.

Your choices

Email us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop receiving emails, and we’ll take care of it. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Age

Our parties are for adults (18+ or 21+ depending on the venue), and this site is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top of this page.
